ATTENTION ARTIST

If you are a local artist and would like to display your arts and crafts in the Welcome Center this year please contact Tina :  teatime@prtcnet.org

Paintings, textiles, photography hand made crafts, all arts are welcome! Be sure your name or company is displayed with the art, either on it or on an attached card.

The Welcome Center will be reopening Saturday April 2nd at 1pm.

P.A.I.D. Victory Walk

Please join us in our P.A.I.D. ( Prayer Against Illegal Drugs) county wide victory walk on Saturday April 23rd, 2011. We will be walking the drugs out of Jackson County while praying and having praise and worship. We need you, your church, groups or anyone that wants to participate to come out and walk with us. Then after the walks are complete come join us at the Jackson County Welcome Center for a Sign Ceremony, Praise and Worship, Preaching, Fellowship, Food and lots of fun for the children beginning at 2pm.

NCWAA Region XI School of the Piece April 9th, 2011, McKee, KY

Saturday, April 9th 2011. All times are approximate, and the order of demonstrations and lectures are subject to change. We will furnish free snacks and drinks as well as free earplugs for all. A registration fee of $10 as well as donations for the re-enactment will be accepted. Forward to all interested parties. Turn onto 290 from the red light in Mckee and follow to the Jackson Energy Farm.

8 am – 9 am:   Registration and sign waivers
9 am – 9:30 am:   Introductions: Mjr. Keith Karcher, Region XI Inspector, NCWAA, Instructors: Capt Gene Gatts, Capt. Leonard Lay, Lt Travis Smith
9:30 am – 10 am:   Mjr. Keith Karcher, Captain Gene Gatts– Cannon nomenclature and a cannoneer’s responsibilities
10 am – 10:30 am:   Restroom break
10:30 am – 11am:   Capt, Leonard Lay, Buckner’s Battery, BMA – Round rolling demo and lecture
11am – 11:30 am:   Capt. Gene Gatts, 1st KY Horse Artillery – Equipment care and safety check
11:30 am – 12 noon:   Capt. Gene Gatts, 1st KY Horse Artillery — Safety lecture and demo. Safety equipment demo
12 noon — 1pm:    Lunch break
1 pm –5 pm:    Cannoneer position and gunner qualifications
Dusk (sundown)   Commemorative of qualification twilight fire

Announcements

4H: There will be a baby class May 5th - 26th at the extention office. It will be a certification class.
4H demonstration will be April 8th at the old Courthouse
4H Sewfun class will be April 15th - 26th at the extension they will be making PJ's

Jackson County 4H Council will hold an indoor yard sale at the extension office on March 21st- 24th. All items are $0.50. They need donations of stuff and people to buy. The money raised is for 4H camp. To be held June 6-9th.
Homemakers; March 15th will be a Flower Power Class highlighting soil preparation and green thumb tips.
Lord’s Gym is now open 11:00 am through 1:00 pm week days. Homemakers are volunteering for that event.
Challenge for Middle School Kids ( kicking Butts) March 3rd – 23rd. To promote not using tobacco products.
Commercial Kitchen Certification March 21st at 9: 30 am – 3:00 pm. Class tuition is $50.00. Registration now.
Biggest Loser to be held in three different locations. Sand Gap School 10:00am, Extension office 12:00pm and JCMS at 5:00 pm

Tourism Meeting

Jackson County Tourism has meetings the first Friday of each month. They are held at the Old JC Court House in the old Grand Jury Room upstairs at 10a.m. Open to the public.
